U.S. Department of Energy

Project Name: U.S. Department of Energy

Location: 19901 Germantown Rd, Germantown, MD

Project Type: Government Office Facility

Synopsis: The U.S. Department of Energy site was on fire-watch due to an inoperable fire pump.
After evaluating the fire pump, it was determined that a new fire pump would need to be
installed.

Details: RentFirePumps.com, in partnership with Sprinklermatic and their local fire protection
contractor, provided a temporary diesel fire pump to supply the site with the necessary protection
and avoid costly fire-watch. With the need to feed the building’s fire suppression system, quick
action was essential to ensure the safety of both staff and property.
Solution: A mobile temporary fire pump was placed on-site. The local AHJ witnessed the full
capacity flow test and confirmed that the mobile unit could meet the fire sprinkler system’s
demands.

Temporary Fire Pump Specifications: Diesel-powered 750 GPM @ 175 PSI, including FP
Controller (110v), Jockey Pump, JP Controller, Test Header, Discharge, Pressure Relief Valve
(adjustable), Day Tank, and Low Fuel Alarm.
