Norfolk Naval Shipyard

Project Name: Norfolk Naval Shipyard

Location: 3971 Elm Avenue, Portsmouth, VA 23704

Project Type: Shipyard Facility

Synopsis: During the renovation of an existing building at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, the facility’s fire pump system was isolated, leaving the site without adequate fire protection. To maintain safety and ensure compliance with fire protection requirements, a temporary fire pump solution was necessary until the renovations were complete.

Details: As a critical naval facility, Norfolk Naval Shipyard requires uninterrupted fire suppression capabilities. The renovation process temporarily rendered the existing fire pump inoperative, posing a significant safety risk. To bridge the gap, a temporary fire pump was essential to maintain compliance with safety standards and provide continuous protection for personnel and infrastructure.

Solution: A mobile fire pump unit was rapidly deployed to restore fire protection throughout the renovation period. The temporary solution ensured that shipyard operations remained uninterrupted while maintaining full compliance with fire safety regulations. The seamless integration of the temporary pump allowed construction crews to proceed with confidence, knowing fire suppression was fully operational.
