Synopsis: During the construction of the Roundout Bypass Tunnel beneath the Hudson River, temporary fire pump protection was required to ensure fire safety compliance and emergency preparedness. Given the complexity and depth of the tunnel excavation, a reliable fire suppression system was necessary to protect workers and equipment throughout the project.

Details: The tunnel construction posed unique fire safety challenges due to confined spaces, heavy machinery, and ongoing excavation work. To meet fire code regulations and mitigate risks, a temporary fire pump system was required to provide continuous fire protection during the construction process.

Solution:  A specialized mobile fire pump system was deployed to support the project’s fire suppression needs. The pump was integrated into the site’s safety infrastructure, ensuring immediate response capability in case of an emergency. Its built-in low suction transducer alarm provided an additional layer of protection by monitoring water supply levels in real time, preventing any potential system failure.  By implementing this temporary fire pump solution, the Hudson River – Roundout Bypass Tunnel project maintained uninterrupted fire protection, ensuring worker safety and regulatory compliance throughout the tunnel excavation process.
